Volvo 220 volts

In Geneva, before the first serial gibridomobil Volvo - wagon V60 Plug-in Hybrid.

Any surprises there, but the Swedes still have done everything differently. Firstly, this station wagon - while others are hybrids or sedans or hatchbacks or crossovers, SUVs and pickup.Secondly, V60 Plug-in Hybrid has become the third after the Peugeot 3008 and HYbrid4 Sedan Mercedes E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid gibridomobilem with diesel engines: the V60 is the Quartet »D5 2.4 power of 215 hp, packaged with a six-speed automatic transmission. And, like Peugeot, rear-wheel-drive electric separate module ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive) with a 70-horsepower electric motor, lithium-ion battery, which is located under the boot floor. A similar arrangement is a hybrid perspective Saab 9-3, and a similar module ERAD plans to use and Land Rover - work on them started, and when Volvo and Land Rover has been part of the corporation Ford.

By default, the joint work of powertrain control electronics, but the driver may be forced to turn on or off and an electric motor and diesel.

And thirdly, Volvo - the third after a couple of Chevrolet Volt / Opel Ampera and Japanese version of Prius Plug-in gibridomobil with rechargeable "from the wall" battery! This is exactly what the title says Plug-in Hybrid. The Swedes found on V60 battery capacity of 12 kWh, a charge which is enough for 50 miles "purely electric" path: it is comparable to the Volta battery (16 kWh, 64 km run) or electric vehicle Nissan Leaf (24 kWh and 160 kilometers). For comparison: standard Toyota Prius has a nickel metal hydride battery with capacity of 1.3 kWh and plug Prius Plug-in lithium-ion batteries has a reserve of electrical stroke only 23 km.

Interestingly, the consumer tests gibridomobilya Volvo conducts since 2009 and initially took part in them a hybrid wagon V70 - and most of the customers complained about the lack (20-30 km) cruising range in electric mode. In response volvovtsy did not fundamentally change the battery and power plant, and replace the car for a more compact station wagon V60. Serial production of the hybrid "shestidesyatki" will start early next year. Promised by the average fuel consumption with regular recharging from household electric - just 1.9 liters per 100 km!
